We began performing LASIK surgery in 1997. After seeing patients’ heightened activity and sense of rejuvenation following LASIK, my interest in anti-aging medicine grew. I soon began studying this field, and, along with several colleagues, founded the Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Japan (now the Japanese Society of Anti-Aging Medicine). We continue to pursue related research and public awareness.
Putting my newfound knowledge to personal use, I was surprised to find that my lower-back pain and dry eye symptoms have both been alleviated.
Anti-aging medicine has developed as a bona-fide science. I am motivated to continue researching this area to contribute to a more vigorous Japanese society, reductions in health-care costs, and above all, improved health for individuals in this aging society.
